Power Electronic Engineer

Role Summary

Imagen Energy has various exciting opportunities for Power Electronic Engineers to help develop the next generation of power electronics for electric vehicle (EV) chargers. The engineer will have the opportunity to perform power converter design, some analog and digital circuit board design, and digital control system implementation.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and managing designs through all phases of development. This includes a range of power levels 50kW - 500kW, advanced inverters development of SiC-based technologies. You will also be responsible for developing control algorithms, hardware design, and implementing power electronics systems for grid-tie and non-grid-tie.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement new power electronics circuits to support the introduction of high-power EV Chargers.  
  • Design and develop control algorithms and diagnostics for AC/DC and DC/DC switching power converters
  • Perform system integration and product development of AC/DC and DC/AC high power.
  • Design and analyze high-frequency magnetics
  • Perform simulation and analysis of high-voltage power electronics
  • Setup and perform testing of new and existing inverters
  • Manage the transfer of design to manufacturing, continue to follow the product, and provide continuous support
  • Perform testing using an oscilloscope, multimeters, power supplies, and other test equipment.
  • Create & perform test plans, document and analyze results
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation

Required Skills and Experience:

  • BS/MS Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 3 Years of Experience in the field of Power Electronics.
  • Experience in the design, analysis, and development of inverter control algorithms.
  • Experience in the testing of power converters is required.
  • Experience with automotive or EV charger applications, and grid interactive inverters preferred.
  • Experience with high voltage power supply designs required.
  • Experience with designing magnetics for power converters preferred.
  • Experience designing AC/DC DC/AC power conversion systems required.
  • Experience with electronics and power circuit board designs required. In-depth knowledge of EMI/EMC compliance.
  • Technical problem-solving skills and troubleshooting experience are required.
  • Hands-on experience working in a high-voltage laboratory environment. preferred. 
  • Experience with microcontroller-based embedded systems for power applications 
  • Knowledge of FPGAs preferred.
  • Experience with requirements management preferred.  
  • Experience with writing test plans, developing test fixtures, and implementing procedures to test products in development and for production.

Salary - 80-120k
